What is the LIFE project?

Launched in 1992, LIFE co-finances projects for the protection of the environment and nature in the European Union within the framework of the Natura 2000 network. This network was created on the basis of two directives: "Birds" and "Habitats".

These measures have been taken by the EU to promote the protection of natural areas, and therefore the fauna and flora, in line with economic, social and cultural requirements.
What is the objective of the LIFE project?

LIFE's objective is to protect and increase the biodiversity of the salt marshes. To achieve this, the project introduces actions involving outreach and communication, the protection of the birdlife's natural habitats, the restoration of the coastal lagoons... on the salt marshes.
